What is an Instagram post?

Instagram posts are the traditional way of sharing content; they appear in your followers’ feeds and can include a combination of up to 10 images/videos and live indefinitely on your profile.

What is an Instagram reel?

Instagram Reels are short videos which can last up to 90 seconds long and also appear in your followers’ feeds live indefinitely on your profile.

What is an Instagram story?

When you post an Instagram story, a colourful ring will appear around your profile picture along the top of your followers’ feed which they can tap to watch. Stories disappear after 24 hours unless saved as a Highlight. (Which remain on your profile indefinitely). If not saved as a Highlight you can still privately view your Stories from the ‘Archive’ section on your profile.

How many photos/videos can I include per Instagram post?

You can select a combination of up to 10 photos or videos per post.

Should my business be on Instagram?

Instagram is a very visual, creativity driven platform. If your company can create strong, engaging, visual assets, then you should consider having an Instagram page. Also, Instagram users are predominantly youthful or youthful minded with a female bias. If your target audience is this demographic, even more reason to join Instagram.

How often should I post on Instagram?

We recommend uploading an Instagram post 2 – 3 times per week and uploading a Story daily if you have the resource. Otherwise, apply common sense and ensure you don’t leave loooooooong gaps between posts.

Instagram Highlights are collections of Stories that you create, located at the top of your profile in the form of tappable circles. They are a great way to group and categorise your Stories by theme. If not saved to a Highlight you can still privately view your Stories from the ‘Archive section’ on your profile.

What is Facebook post?

Facebook posts are the traditional way of sharing content for friends, followers, or public to see and will live indefinitely on your profile. Sharing ‘publicly’ is the most visible and sharable option, as your post will reach the most people. For example, if one of your friends shares, comments or likes your post, their friends and followers will be able to see it as well. (Privacy settings can be applied). Facebook posts can either include images, videos, PDF’s, GIFs, location, and links.

How many photos/videos can I include per post?

On Facebook you cannot add both photos and videos to the same post. There is no limit to the number of photos you can upload directly to a post. You can include up to 50 videos per post. If you have lots of photos, you can create a Facebook album which allows you to include up to 1000 photos/videos which you can post.

Should my business be on Facebook?

Facebook is the largest social networking site, with over billions of people using it daily. If you are selling to consumers (ie homeowners, as opposed to other businesses) there is a high likelihood a large majority of your audience is there. But remember, the biggest ‘professional’ social media channel is LinkedIn.

How often should I post on Facebook?

We recommend posting on Facebook at least twice per week. An old account with rreally old posts can be more damaging for your brand than not being on there at all. If you don’t have the resource to post (or hire an agency like Attract & Engage (LINK)), and you don’t use to communicate with customers through messenger, then turn it off.

How many photos/videos can I include per post on X / Twitter?

You can select a combination of up to 4 photos or videos per post.

Should my business be on X / Twitter?

Compared to other platforms, X/Twitter is more of a destination for news and customer service. If your company needs to be up to date on current affairs or contribute to topical discussions then you should consider joining X / Twitter.

How often should I post on X?

Given the intensity and importance of staying ‘current’, we recommend posting (or least commenting/contributing) daily.

What is the character limit on X?

In the UK, a tweet can contain up to 280 characters, but the character limit in the US is now 4,000.  There are no current plans to extend this to the UK.

LinkedIn

Should my business be on LinkedIn?

We believe it’s crucial for every business, especially B2B companies to be active on LinkedIn. It gives your company credibility as it’s often the first place people will look when researching you. It’s also a valuable platform to build partnerships, collaborations, and business opportunities. Brand visibility is crucial and with millions of active users, LinkedIn offers a vast audience for businesses to showcase their brand and establish a strong online presence. If you’ve not got time to have a business presence, it’s vital key stakeholders have up to date profiles.

How often should you post on LinkedIn?

We recommend posting on LinkedIn 2 – 3 times per week, but login daily to comment and share on your connections posts.

Should I accept connections requests from everyone?

Totally dependent on your personal preferences. We know plenty of individuals who do, and plenty of individuals who are more selective. However, if you do accept all connection requests, you can always delete, remove, hide or un-connect if they become annoying.

TikTok

How long can TikTok videos be?

Depending on if you film in app or upload from your device, they can range from a minimum of 15 seconds up to a maximum of 10 minutes long.

Should my business be on TikTok?

TikTok is a very visually engaging, creativity driven platform and currently has 500 million daily active users. If your company can frequently create engaging video content, then you should consider having a TikTok page. It is also being used a as search tool, so can compete with YouTube, especially on ‘how to’ videos.

Who uses TikTok?

TikTok users are predominantly teenagers/young adults.

How often should I post on TikTok?

We recommend posting on TikTok 2 – 3 times per week. BUT, engaging content is key. Don’t post crap for the sake of posting.

How do I make a video go viral?

There’s no guaranteed formula. But no matter the industry, you can increase your chances if your content presents a unique story or idea in a way that directly addresses a pain point or creates an emotional response in your core audience and in an engaging format. And even then, that’s not enough. You have to make sure to tag & promote it EVERYWHERE.
