Are you eligible to apply?
There are four categories for The King’s Awards for Enterprise. At Attract & Engage, we can evaluate your business against strict eligibility requirements to determine which category(s) you should apply for.
- Innovation – Innovation is defined as an invention, design or production of goods, performance of services, marketing and distribution or after-sales support of goods or service. It must have been available on the market for at least two years.
- International trade – Three financial years of outstanding overall financial performance and growth in exports or six financial years of strong continual growth. You must have made a minimum of £10,000 in overseas sales in the first year of your entry and show year-on-year growth.
- Promoting opportunity through social mobility – The programme needs to specifically reach and support people from disadvantaged backgrounds, in order to inspire and guide the best talent into their organisation and beyond. Crafting an award-winning entry
We’ve collated top tips and insights to craft a compelling entry that showcases your unique achievements and successes.
- Answer questions precisely – Fluffing out your application with nice words won’t be good enough. You must answer the questions directly, maintaining high standards in terms of clarity and facts.
- Provide substantial evidence – Evidence is key. Prove you are leading your industry. You cannot simply make this claim without compelling evidence to support it. Additional market research, benchmarking and/or surveys are great ways to ensure all assertations are backed up.
- Implementing a Golden Thread – Instil a Golden Thread that weaves throughout your whole application, creating a story and highlighting your core values.
- Full disclosure – Provide web links, videos and extra collateral where relevant that further support your application for the reviewer to do extra research if they’d like.
- Illustrate personality – Showcase the passion, mission and values of the business to set your application out from the others. However, avoid hyperboles and unsubstantiated marketing speak.
- Engage multiple stakeholders – The leaders need to make important decisions about how to present your case and contribute to their sections. Your Finance Director will need to help with numerous sections of the entry that relate to finances. Your accountants will be key to spot any errors.
